You're a collector for the 309th Expeditionary Research Group on a bug planet. An automated turret network surfaces wherever there's biomass. The bugs aggro on the turret, not on you. You run out, grab what you can, and get back underground before the aggro peaks and the turret drops without you. Nothing targets the players; every death is incidental.
Inventory is a Tarkov-style grid: bag size and weight cost you speed, loot is searched one tile at a time, and you can loot a dead friend's bag. Unit nickname: Vultures.
Status: design settled, build starting from the co-op template.
